Success
The creativity continues and we are unveiling several new designs by our artisans in Uganda. Go to our online store to see the new jewelry designs that combine the original paper beads and other natural elements, like acacia seeds. We also have several new glass bead and mixed media pieces. And not to be outdone by their mothers, our store now features the peace tiles painted by the children we sponsor in school.
Hope
Meet Ayoo Jennifer Akello. Jennifer Akello hails from the district of Kitgum. She is twenty-four years old and has two children. Her husband, who later passed away from HIV/AIDS, left her when she was pregnant with their second child. Jennifer then became very sick with HIV/AIDS, and her brother brought her to Kampala to recover. She is now able to care for her children and the six orphans she has taken in. Jennifer moved to the Acholi quarter in 2008 and began working at the quarry. Jennifer dreams of attending tailoring school someday to help her support herself and her family.
